Hi, newbie to both this forum and to the Hidrex PS500 Iontophoresis machine.
I have actually only just recieved my Hidrex PS500 today along with the facial mask. The thing is that I havent a clue how to use it, how long for or at what voltage? I mainly want it for the face. The instruction manual is very muched geared torwards hands, feet and armpits so I kind of pieced together the information in the manual and guide and performed the following:
I connected everything up, soaked the masked in water and put it on my face, switched the machine on and put it into what I believe is manual mode adjusted the time and voltage (1 min at a voltage of 3 as I was abit scared) and then I inserted the metal plates into the mask (with difficultly as the mask was already on my face). As soon as the second plate started to be inserted into the mask the treatment began which I did not expect due to the fact it was in manual mode. Its worth noting that I switched the machine to the off postion whilst the mask was still on my face and got a very very small tiny shock which startled me rather than cause any pain. I think I should have taken the metal plates out first to prevent this but not 100 % on that.
If I am honest not sure if the above is correct - can someone help, is that right or am I missing a step and what is the reccomendation for using it on the face in terms of time and voltage?
Cheers |

No problem, when you get first started with facial sweat treatments it is really a bit complicated at first steps. After doing a setup 2-3 times you will recognize it will be very easy. Although you are right that the manual is mainly explaining how the treatment for sweaty hands and sweaty feet works, it is the same idea and routine behind it when treating other parts. Most of the other parts who can be treated with iontophoresis have thin and sensible skin. The armpit sweating area or facial sweating area are highly sensitive! The best idea it to treat them in "Sensitive Mode" and "Pulsed Mode".
First:
To understand: current circle is closed means that the current would be able to flow, this is the fact when in your example both electrodes are in the face mask.
Here is a step by step how to use theHidrex PS500 for facial sweating:Soak the face mask in the water
Plug in the device in the mains
Switch on the iontophoresis machine
Now wait along 8 seconds for the security check routine (rolling bars in the display)
After this you have 10 seconds time to press any button, else the device jumps to the settings you have had before. You can choose:
- the routines: hand/feet/armpit or manual mode
- the wished treastment time: between 1-60 min
- Sense mode: on/off
- Pulse mode: on/off
NOTE: You have not to setup the machine in 10 seconds, you have to press the first button in between the 10 seconds after the safty check routine run out.For facial sweat treatments i would stongly recommend to use Sense and Pulsed mode at one time. You can set them up manual or automatical by easyly pressing the user button till you are in axillary mode (AXE light is on - like shown on the picture). In this mode there is pulsed and sense standard on, maybe it is not like on the picture, then simply press the SENSE button. If Pulsed light is not on, press the PULSED buton.
After you setup the mode you can press ENTER
Now the device switches in the "treatment time and current set mode" and is ready to start the treatments. Here again are for first beginners start values, for facial sweating it is 15 min. with 8 Volt. You can now set the time higher with the combined USER/ Arrow up button and lower it with the combined SENSE/ Arrow down button.
Same is for the current strength
to increase the current press the combined Pulse / + button
to decrease the current press the combined Enter / - button
You have all your wished settings? You havent to do anything more on the machine side at the moment.
Take the mask for facial sweating treatments out the water and wring it out slightly that it doesnt drip anymore. Put in the electrodes in the face mask, put it on and now you plug in the cables in the machines sockets. The treatment will start now.
You can lower/increase current and time if wished whilst the treatment.
If there is anything that is uncomfortable - or you want to interrupt or stop the treatment, please dont switch out the device, simply unplug one electrode cable or remove one electrode out the face mask.
Switching (with a "hardware cold start") on and off the machine whilst the current circle is closed can (it is not a must) give you a mild electric push. Although this is not nice it is not dangerous.
To prevent this is: Dont switch on and off the machine with the on/off circuit braker.
As youve seen when the the current circle is closed the machine will not restart. Why is this so, or what is the idea behind this fact?
There is a prevention that is really great: braking donw the current circle means: Something is wrong, mostly that you have set up too much power taht hurted you. Due to the digital automatic mode the machine would else increase the current to the last setting you had (and this in this example would hurt again), so it is the best to NOT restart automatical after the current circle broke.
I hope i could help you up, if any quests left for the start of the treatment against facial sweat you are always welcome. _________________ You are welcome...

make sure "sense" and pulsed mode is on, iontophoresis facial treatments are a bit difficult cause of the very sensitive skin, so it is not surpising you can only tolerate low current levels _________________ You are welcome...

Okey, maybe i had something wrong of settings, cause now 8 volts doesnt hurt a bit. how much can lift volts without it being dangerous. And what's "flash" when you unplug electrode?
and how often should treat? |

you can go up with the volts as high as you want, as long as it doesn´t hurt!
if you can, treat everyday for a few minutes! _________________ You are welcome...
